I hope everyone had a good week and are finding time to relax over the weekend. I just got home from my favorite flea market that I go to every month. I'll post pictures of my new treasures tomorrow. I must admit I was a good girl and didn't buy half of what I wanted to. There are a couple of big ones coming up and I want to save some money for those. Sooo I had to be good. I did get a couple of lovelies though. I finally got my wreath out last night before I went for my massage....oh was it nice too!! 1 1/2 hours of just laying there being pampered. I always look forward to them. Do you get massages? If not you should really try it, there is nothing better.
I decided to decorate my cake dome this year. I turned it upside down and put cranberries in the middle stand and leaves and acorns around it. I think it looks very pretty. I have a small chest freezer and I think it looks lovely there.

Last weekend when I was making my carrot cake and had leftover pineapple and of course I grated a little too much carrot I decided to do something I don't usually do.
My Grandmother has been on my mind a lot lately. When we were kids she used to make a lot of jello salads and one of my favorites was with pineapple and carrots so I made one in memory of her. She has been gone many many years and I still miss her. Remember the one with red jello and fruit cocktail?
When I was growing up I always wanted to be as good a cook as my Grandma!! No one in my family really cooks so I guess I got some of her genes. The last time I made a meal for her I asked her if I was as good as she was yet and she laughed her silly little laugh and said I was getting pretty good but I needed to practice a little more. She passed away a few months after her Great Great Grandson was born. Jonathan is now 24 and I always wish they could have met. When I told her she was a Great Great Grandmother, she looked at me for a minute and said "Who did that to me" and laughed her silly little laugh. I miss you Grandma!!

Hi Judy, We had 6 inches of rain today from Hurricane Hannah but we are inside and dry!
I love your fall wreath and your decorated cake dome! So pretty!
Oh yeah, my mom used to make that jello and now I want some! It does bring back memories.
Oh, about the massage, I have a friend who used to be my neighbor and now she lives in Boulder and has her own business. He name is Jean, but I have forgotten her married name.
Have a great Sunday.
Blessings,
Cheryl
Hi Judy!
Your jello sald looks delicious! I make a jello dessert at Thanksgiving that everyone enjoys as it's light and refreshing after a big meal.
I like your fall wreath and cake dome decorated fro fall.
I miss my grandmother too! I got the gardening gene from her :-)
Have a wonderful Sunday!

I had completely forgotten about jello salads. Thanks for the memory nudge!
You and I are a couple of the lucky few who knew their great-grandmothers. I knew both of them on my mother's side; in fact, one lived with us for several years. I have a picture of my daughter (then around age 2) with her and it's one of my most cherished photos.
Isn't it nice that we are able to have such wonderful memories of those special people in our lives...even after they're gone. It always makes me think that they stay with us, especially through those memories.
Your fall decor looks great and your jellos salad looks delicious! =)
Yes, I sure do remember those jellos with carrots and the other onw with fruit cocktail...not my favorite..
I'd love to get a massage..need to save some pennies first :)
Have a blessed Sunday,
Deb
Hi Judy, Thanks for stopping by. I love your post today. I adore glass domes and what a great idea to use as a display, I never thought of that. The jelly sounds interesting, as orange and carrots are a great combination, but Ive never had them in a jelly. Its a fantastic colour. Im loving the american blogs at the moment because you are all decorating your houses for Fall, which isnt something we do here in the UK but it is giving me inspiration to start thinking of preparing my home for Winter..... I feel christmassy already....YIKES! Your Grandmother sounds like a lovely lady. My Grandad died 5 months before I was born, and I wish I had met him. Im going off to write in my note book your dome idea incase I forget, maybe some nice vintage baubles displayed under glass would be nice at christmas. Bye for now Mandy X
Jello! I love jello -- I was just thinking the other day how we had it all the time when I was growing up, yet my boys barely know what it is. So sad! I do believe we used to have just the kind you made too LOL. Isn't it funny how we miss our grandmas?
Massages??? Ooooh, yuck! Definitely not a fan -- it would hurt -- I think I must be too sensitive or something???
Hi Judy,
I wish you'd send of that Fall over here. It's been over 100 all week and there's no end in sight until mid next week.
I had to laugh, your carrot jello made me think of my grandma right away too. I sure miss her too and she had a little laugh - the way you described your grandma reminded me of the way I feel about mine ;) Special places in our hearts. I miss mine too ~ What a sweet touching post.
Love the wreath and I can't wait to a misty Fall morning ;)

I apologize Judy, back to my contacts now. Was thinking oh, I can see better than I thought... Obviously not. I promise, I do speak English ~ I love your post though, hope that showed through my poor eyesight ;)

I like the fall wreath in your first photo Judy. I have never heard of a carrot jello salad! Do you have it for dessert or is it an accompaniment to other foods? Thanks for the comment on my blog. I have never tried any of the candles that you mention but I love the sound of the one that crackles like a fire!
Thanks for visiting Pink Saturday.
I love your decorations for autumn; you have really been busy.
I do remember when congealed salads were all of the rage. I still love them. Any with lime gelatin are my favorites.
I know what you mean about grandmothers. One of mine has been gone 29 years, and I really miss her. My other grandmother has been gone 21 years (she was the best cook).
HELLO SWEET FRIEND!
ITS MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I LOVE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE WITH THE GLASS DOME!

Judy,
Your Grandmother sounds like she was wonderful. What great memories you must have.
I love how you decorated the cake plate dome. Very pretty!
Happy Sunday!
Melissa
Hi Judy, it sounds like your grandmother really was special! Ha ha, carrot and pineaple jello was a real Sunday family lunch side dish when I was growing up. The colour of it goes so well with your Fall theme. Great decorations! I'm already starting to plan for Halloween. It's not really as big here in the UK as in America, but I enjoy decorating the house, and giving out sweets to the local kids that come trick or treating. Oh dear, I'm jumping the gun here, it's still September! :)
Hi Judy,
What a lovely tribute to your grandma. I know what you mean. My grandma passed away when I was pregnant with my oldest son (30 yrs ago). I know they will meet someday.
I like your fall decorations. Girl, a massage. Oh, that sounds heavenly.
hugs,
Barb
Hi Judy, OMG!!! I have not thought of that jello salad in years. Your pic has got me drooling for some though. I'm going to be seeing my mom and dad this coming weekend, so I think I might ask her to make some!
