Herb Garden

I hope you are all having a wonderful and relaxing holiday weekend. I was going to have lots and lots of time to relax since I took Thursday and Friday off but every day just seems to fly bye. I am getting a lot done though.
I think I've crammed all the herbs I can in my little garden. I plan on freezing and drying some this fall. I get a lot out of my little space. I was happy with the herbs I dried last fall so I'll be doing more this year. I cringe every time I have to buy fresh herbs at the grocery store. Some are so pricey.
I've had to have a few (A LOT) of talks with Bailey, he keeps eating my tarragon and chives and digging out the rosemary. You should see him cower when I catch him, you'd think I beat the poor baby or something. Their grass is growing now so in a few days they will have that to chew on. Plus they have their catnip!! So please leave Mommy's herbs alone!
Why is it that it is so nice and sunny, even hot, during the week and weekends are cool and rainy? It was actually 90 last week and this weekend it is cool cloudy and rainy again. Go figure! We seem to be following this weekend snow/rain pattern since our no snow winter. We need the moisture so I'm trying not to complain but it would be nice if it would rain during the week when we are all stuck inside.
Have a great weekend!

I love growing herbs. There is nothing like being able to step outside and gather what you need when cooking. it just makes everything happy. :)

How funny! I can relate to your cat digging around in your herbs. Montgomery likes to do the same thing. In fact I think he likes my lavender more than catnip! Good luck with your herb garden and have a great weekend!

Your herb garden looks great! I have never grown an herb. They say that fresh herbs are so much better. Good luck on your gardening and keeps the kitties out of it.

You have the planters arranged very attractively. Good luck keeping Bailey out!

beheob: It would beheob Bailey to stay out of Mom's herb garden!

I love using fresh herbs. My mother used DRIED parsley in the 1970's Ewwwww! It was like having grass cuttings sprinkled on the food. Yours look wondeful X

P.S. Bailey keep off mummys herbs!!! X

Hi Judy, it is very difficult to grow such herbs here. The local ones we have no problems, but rosemary, thyme etc., all are tough. I believe its our climate and these herbs are extremely expensive here. I am trying to grow some basil and thyme...fingers and toes crossed, hopefully they will survive. Hey, Bailey...no munching those herbs ok. Have a good week...hugs/M

Your herbs look beautiful.

Florida was wonderful. It sounds like the Florida heat worked it's way towards your neck of the woods though.

Stay cool.

Hi Judy,
I have a little patch of chives that pop up every year and I must say that I forget about freezing them or even using them.
Hope you had a good weekend.
Warmly,
Deb :)

Bad Bailey! Stay out of mommy's chives. Thank you for taking the hit on the weather for those of us farther east. We've had a gorgeous weekend, and our week is supposed to be rainy. Sorry. ;-(

I love the look of your garden Judy! My cat has been jumping into a huge plant we have behind the sofa and yesterday he knocked it off the plant stand! I was so mad! He then proceeded to run from me so I shut him in the garage where he ran for a couple of hours to cool down. Fun!

Your herb garden is great. Herbs are so easy to grow (most of them) and you reap such great rewards with something edible and usually something very fragrant!

Hi Judy,

We need to trade a bit on the weather. I'll take some rain and give your some sun.

I have 2 huge bushes of Rosemary. Tommy can't be bothered with them.

Hope all is well.

hugs,
Barb

I sure hope Bailey doesn't eat all your herbs...good thing his catnip is coming up ready for a chewing..*s*.. silly kitty.

That'll be so good to have it dry and keep it over the winter...so nice when its fresh too. Thats such a good idea to do that.

We've been having the same pattern...the weekdays are pretty nice and the weekends fall into the colder and/or rainier days. I think we need some global warming around here. It should be much warmer. Its been down in the 50s for a few days now and really quite windy today along with the cold. If I didn't know better I'd have thought we were in for snow!!

Let's hope the weather patterns change for us both.

Hello Judy,
I love your herb garden!!!!
I too planted a lot of herbs this season. I planted a new one, winter savory. It grows every year.
It's always so exciting to dry out herbs once autumn rolls around.
Have a wonderful day,
Lydia

I know what you mean about the price of fresh herbs at the grocery store. I finally bought a basil plant since I was spending $3 for about four leaves and the rest would get tossed. Now I just keep the plant on my kitchen counter and pull of a leaf when I need one. I love your wire plant stand.

An herb garden is on my wish list. I've got a bit of a brown thumb. My neighbor is planting several herbs and I was hoping to enlist her help. Since the backyard is my husbands domain...I've got to be creative with gardening spaces (not to infringe). Maybe I can plant a little nip for my kitty too.
Those pics of Anna and Bailey sampling the cat nip was hilarious! I feel the same way about dessert. ;D

Sweet wishes,
Sara

Yes, definitely leave the tarragon alone Bailey! ;) I want that stuff and so does mama.

Hey honey, you won the kindness giveaway on my blog. Please send me your address! And when you repost feel free to do only two recipients. Apparently, I started out seeing 5 but it has changed to 2 after being passed around the blogosphere.

Hi Judy, sorry for my late comment. I love herb gardens, and yours looks great! Rosemary is my favourite, I wish I was a cat too so that I could roll in my herb garden and come out smelling lovely.
