My Favorite Desk

I love my desk. Whenever I look at it I smile and it makes my happy. I probably paid way too much for it but I didn't care. It is an 1800 Lakin Secretariat in really good condition.

I decided to give it a good cleaning and thought it was a good time to take some pictures because you could really see it. It is usually full of stuff. Someone put a lot of love in it. The pull down shelf was broken and repaired. If you look closely you can see it. It is under the decrorative piece. One drawer is a little different also but all this just gives it more character.
Anna likes to sleep under it so I made her a bed. They have a basket full of toys too!! The baby buggy I'll have to post about later. I think I've posted pictures of Anna and Bailey in the buggy. I was living in Dallas when I bought my desk. There is a First Monday Flea Market in Canton once a month and I went with some friends of mine. I went several times while living there. It is a lot of fun and you can find so many many treasures. The first time I went my friend told me if I wanted something to buy it because we'd never find it again. The Market is huge. I actually decided on something after leaving it behind and we found it again. I got this look but they helped me find it. I was so happy but now I could not tell you what it was. I'm sure it's around here someplace though. The desk has lots of slots and a small drawer to put things. Below is a closer look at the inside.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my desk and don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already. Remember it closes Friday night.

Actually I could use a desk like that in order to hide all my little pieces of papers. I see there are a lot of places in there to keep things organized. Why don't they make furniture like that any more? Are they thinking just because we have computers that we do not have pieces of papers anymore. Don't they know there are bills to be paid?

I really like your desk. It would also be a nice place to sleep under too! Move over Anna!

that is a neat desk. I like how you set up a sleeping place for your fur babies. They always seem to find the coziest places to curl up.

I am on the lookout for a small desk for my bedroom. I want to put something right in front of my windows where I can watch nature. Hubby has pretty much taken over the desk and computer that was suppossed to be mine.

Love the desk. I love any piece of furniture with multiple little drawers and cubby holes. Even better if there are secret compartments
Great job on the blog

Hello Judy,
Your desk is beautiful. I love antiques and have a similar desk in my hallway.
It's very old. It use to be my hubby's grandmother's when she was a small girl. I just love it, because it's adds so much character to the house and it's also a great conversation piece.
Wishing you a wonderful day,
Lydia

That is adorable. Don't think you paid too much; you can't associate value with a price tag; there is also intrinsic value to consider. I love Canton; we are an hour away, and usually go a couple of times a year. It is so big now that you really can't see it all in one day!

It's a beautiful desk -- how lucky you are. I love antiques -- especially when they have a fun memory attached to them!

What a lovely antique. My desk leaves something to be desired, being glass and what is likely fake wood. I would love someday to find an antique desk.

It's beautiful and I think so practical because you can close up the main desk part so everything looks so neat.
