The Thanksgiving Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope everyone has a wonderful thankful day.
As some of you know I work in a Physical Therapy Clinic. One of the patients brought a gift in for everyone. I thought it was so cute I wanted to share. It is a bag of microwave popcorn with the following poem attached.
The Thanksgiving Turkey
The turkey shot out of the oven
and rocketed into the air.
It knocked every plate off the table
And partly demolished a chair.
It ricocheted into a corner
And burst with a deafening boom.
Then splattered all over the kitchen
Completely obscuring the room.
It stuck to the walls and windows
it totally coated the floor.
There was turkey attached to the ceiling
Where there'd never been turkey before.
It blanketed every appliance
it smeared every saucer and bowl.
There wasn't a way I could stop it
That turkey was out of control
I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure
And I thought with chagrin as I mopped
That I'd never again stuff a turkey
With popcorn that hadn't been popped!!
I am behind on visiting but wanted to answer a couple of questions I haven't had time to respond to. I bought my fancy loaf pan at Williams Sonoma. It's fun baking bread in this time of year. I'll try to post a picture of it later. I have my orchids in the kitchen window which is supposedly not a good place but they seem to like it.
Have a wonderful Turkey day!!
Hugs,

I love that poem! It makes me grin every time I read it! I'll tell Chad to not put popcorn in the turkey when he puts it in the oven tomorrow.

I didn't know that you are a physical therapist! I guess I have only been reading your blog as of lately. Good for you!

I hope you get the day off tomorrow and have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

Blessings,
Cheryl

Very cute poem.

You know I think this cold is going to my head. I am actually going to tackle making those mini cheeseburger puffs.

How cute, Judy ~
Now I want a bag of popcorn... or better yet, maybe some truffled oil popcorn this holiday weekend (I'll use you as the excuse of why I have to have it ;)
Have a beautiful Thanksgiving!

Judy,

This is sad. I think the cake came out okay, but the mini cheeseburgers looks pathetic. I could not tell when the meat was browned enough and I let the pastry dough sit out too long and the dough dried up.

I gave up and decided to let my husband make the scalloped potatoes tomorrow.

Do you think there is any cooking hope for me?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Melissa

What a cute poem! I just love it when poets manage to get all the words in cadence. So admire that! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Hi Judy, That was so cute. I too have a turkey stuffing recipe made with popcorn but the poem that goes with it is unprintable...lol. Hope your Thanksgiving was the best.

I hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving! That poem is just great. What a novel idea to give the popcorn and poem as a present.
