Hot Chocolate and Tagged and Winner

I'm editing this post because I just received an email from Diane at Crafty Passions to let me know I have won her giveaway. I am so happy!! I'll be posting more when I receive the package and show it off!! Thank you thank you!!
I also forgot to tag anyone for my tag below. I try to pick different bloggers each time and I'm so excited I can't think so I'll leave it up to you. Please tell us 7 things that make you happy or sad or laugh.
We didn't get up to snow this morning and I guess that was a good thing. I was a little disappointed though. It's been so warm it would have just stayed on the grassy areas. It has been cool and rainy all weekend. Definitely sweatshirt weather. I had a lot of errands to run yesterday and I had on my sweats and down vest and was quite comfortable. It is definitely hot chocolate weather. I used to make this a lot when my kids were young. They remember coming home from school and having hot chocolate. When I decided to make some for this winter I didn't remember how so I searched and found these two recipes. I'm not sure which I used though..maybe both!!

As you can see it makes a bunch and lasts for a long time...well maybe!!
All you do is put some mix in a cup, add hot water and stir. A few marshmallows don't hurt either.

I also decided that is was down comforter time so when I was changing my bedding I put it on. I slept warm and cozy last night. As you can see Bailey likes it too!!

Hot Chocolate #1
10 2/3 cups instant nonfat powdered milk
6 oz jar powdered nondairy creamer
4 cups powdered sugar
2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and stir gently to mix well. Store in an airtight container in a cool dark place. Makes 17 cups of mix.

For one serving, stir 3 T Mix with 1 cup of hot water until dissolved. Or for a richer hot chocolate use hot milk.

Hot Chocolate #2
1 8 quart box of dry powdered milk
2 lb box of Nestle' Quick
6 oz jar of coffee mate powder
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Mix all ingredients together in a large container. Use 1/3 cup of mix to 1 cup of boiling water. Makes about 28 cups of hot chocolate.

I've also been tagged by Deb at Garage Sale Gal. I'm supposed to list 7 things about me that are funny or unusual or whatever. I think that since I've had kind of a sad week I'll do happy things.
1. My kids, grandson and friends
2. When I come home from work and Anna and Bailey run to meet me at the door.
3. Spending time in my kitchen (I bet that's a surprise)
4. Going for a walk
5. I cry while reading a book, watching a movie or even a commercial on TV and not necessarily sad...could just be something sappy
6. A physical therapist who told me that I was doing all the wrong exercises and showed me new ones that are actually helping my back.
7. And last but certainly not least all of you out there

Congrats on that give-a-way! I think I can drink everything that is in your hot chocolate mix. I think I will give it a try. I am trying really hard to give up coffee. I have given up Coke and doing really well. I need the milk in the hot chocolate so I would definitely mix it with milk.

Love your list too. I am glad that your back is feeling better.

Yummo, I live for hot chocolate (and cold chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, get the idea?). Have you ever tried Nestle's Abuelita? It is Mexican chocolate, with cinnamon and sugar. It comes in a package of blocks, and you break off what you want and melt it into your milk. We have a high hispanic population, so it's easy to find here in Texas, not sure about the rest of the world!

Hello Judy,
Congtats on your winning the givaway!!!
I love that hot chocolate recipe. I'll have to make it for my kids. It's been very warm here this past weekend, just like summer.
I have a lot of yard cleanup to do yet.
I really enjoyed reading the 7 things that make you happy.
Wishing you a very happy day,

I too cry when I read books. Congratulations on the giveaway. I too am always disappointed when they say we could get snow and don't but that is because we rarely get snow in Holland. I am sure there will be snow coming your way though. :) I love hot chocolate and make it with milk and real Dutch cocoa. People think that is a bother to do and most people don't make it the old fashioned way any longer. It is simple and very tasty. We top ours with whipped cream. Wish I could have you here to make you some.

Hugs ~
Heidi
