More Aspens and My Friend David

I wasn't going to post for awhile because I am so very sad. My very good friend David passed away yesterday in his sleep. I met David a little over a year ago and he became a very very good friend. He was a crazy 62 year old guy who loved to ride his Harley!! And I might add at a very high speed. He had retired and rode his bike every day. He loved it more than I can express. David had a wonderful wife who I talked to tonight. She is such a wonderful person and he loved her so much. They were married 19 years. It was one of those May to December romances. There is 20 years difference in their ages. You should have seen them together. So considerate and so kind to each other. You could feel the love. David was always telling everyone what a beautiful and wonderful wife he had. She told me tonight that she hoped she had been a good wife to him and I assured her she had been. They married 3 weeks after they met. Can you imagine? He fell asleep and never woke up so he didn't suffer and I am thankful for that. He got up yesterday and said he was tired so he went back to bed. Before she left for work she went to tell him goodbye but he was snoring so she went to work without waking him. When she came home from work that evening she found him. I can't imagine coming home and finding someone you love so much.
I'm sorry to be sappy but I'm home alone and I guess I just needed to talk to someone. Anna and Bailey are both sleeping. Don't they know I need a hug? Bailey and I did play catch for awhile tonight so I guess he tried to cheer me up for awhile.
These are the last of the drive #1 pictures. I'll be uploading drive #2 and posting those soon. If I bore you let me know and I'll take a break. Thank you my friends for listening and for being here for me.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Judy. I had that happen to a friend of mine a few years ago -- he was only 48. You just never know. Thanks for the beautiful CO fall pictures.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. 62 is young! That's how old I am, and I don't feel old (except my knees).

I love your aspen pictures. Don't stop!

I'm sending you hugs to keep you until the kitties wake and take over! I'm so sorry about your friend. That is a good way to go, we should all be so lucky; just close your eyes and pass over. You and your friends family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I forgot to say that I showed my hubby your pictures of the mountains and the Aspen trees that are on your blog. I told him about the aspen and how they grow in clusters with their roots intertwined.

This morning he showed me a devotional from his daily devotions on aspen trees. It had been written by someone who lives out there in CO. Here is what it said:

On a crisp October morning, our local newspaper featured a stunning photo of sun-drenched aspen trees whose leaves had turned autumn gold. The caption read:For A Limited Time Only.
The irresistible invitation to take a drive through the mountains to savor the brilliant color conveyed the urgency of doing it quickly. Autumn leaves that are golden today are often gone tomorrow.

It went on to say that our opportunities to obey God's promptings are also fleeting.

It ended with this poem:
If God is prompting you today
To help someone who has a need,
Don't hesitate, the time is short'
Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

With the pictures of Aspen trees and the death of your friend, I thought,"Oh my, we all need to learn from this devotional."

I don't think I will ever look at an aspen tree again in quite the same way.

Hugs,
Cheryl

Oh Judy, I am so so sorry for you and your friend. My DH is a juvenile diabetic and I have woken up in the morning to find he has passed out during the night and I can't get him to come around. It's so so scary. I can't imagine how your friend felt.

Thank you for sharing your gorgeous aspen photos. Why don't you join us for the Christmas swap. It's so much fun.~ Lynn

Oh Judy -- what sad news for you to lose a good friend, gone way too young! My condolences to you and his wife.

I just celebrated 34 years of marriage and I often think that each year is more precious than the last. We never know how many God will give us, so it's best to make the most of each one.

The aspens are so lovely and it's nice to share them in Dave's memory.

Gentle hugs of sympathy and prayers going up for you and David and his family!

Judy, I am so sorry to hear of your wonderful friend's passing. Just hold on to those little kitties and they give you a hug back and some fluff therapy.

Wish I could say something to make it better. You were blessed to have such a great friend and he in you too.
